Who I am

I am investigative journalist Mary Patricia Nunan. * I have been examining the Haing Ngor murder since early 2023. I am confident that this was a contract killing related to Ngor’s activities in Cambodia, and I am now working to prove that.

I began my career as a journalist in Cambodia between 1992 and 1996 -- coinciding with Haing Ngor's period there as a businessman. I went on to spend 17 years living and working in Asia as a freelancer and foreign correspondent.

I have worked extensively for National Public Radio, Voice of America, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation, the British Broadcasting Corporation, and Radio Deutsche Welle among others. (”Patricia Nunan" has usually been my on-air byline.)

I have an extensive understanding of the intersection between Southeast Asia's political dynamics and transnational crime. I have also completed post-graduate studies on the topic. I am also a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist through ACAMS.

My extended resumé can be found  here.

For this podcast, I am working informally with the Innocence Center, a San Diego-based non-profit whose mandate is to get the wrongfully-convicted released from prison. Jason Chan, one of three convicted for the Ngor murder, is a client of the Innocence Center.

* I am "M.P." to family and friends.
